Founders Crossing, home to 100 different artisan and antique merchants for more than two decades.
This historic property was originally built in the 1890's and home to Simon Oppenheimers clothing store.Throughout the years it has seen many businesses come and go including the GC Murphy Company that occupied the property for more than 30 years. It went through a period of vacancy prior to Sharon Payne purchasing the building in 1992 to create her vision of a marketplace for local craftsmen and artisans to come together and sell their wares.
The store originally opened up the first floor level to house 60 artisan spaces. After quickly taking hold in the community,by 1994 a second level of the store was opened to welcome space for 40 antique and collectible dealers. After a few more years, a third level was opened to house additional vendors to keep up with the growing popularity of the marketplace. In 2007 however, a devastating fire ruined the upper floors and due to a change in city codes, the upper floors were never reopened to the public.
Today Founders Crossing welcome's visitors from all over the globe who have come to know and love not only our beautiful historic town, but our wonderful store, a local favorite for all kinds of wonderful artistic and antique decor.
